Fabric Stash

All good sewing begins with fabric, and once you start you cannot stop. You find yourself buying fabric everywhere, and everything is a potential project. Whether it isin a fabric shop, or an item of clothing you start eyeing up, and eventually cut up!
My purchases for the Quiltalong, are from JB Quilting Fabrics a range called Muted Moments. JB have a great range, and postal charges are really fair, they only charge what it weighes. I have bought 5 fat quarters & was charged 85p. I have just bought 10, and shipping was free.

Vintage fabrics too are amazing, I have bought a huge load of reclaimed Star Wars fabrics to make into a quilt for my son. I am also collecting old denims for another project. Usually I have a number of projects in my mind, which I if I began them, I would probably not have to leave the house for months on end. But there is always another opportunity right round the corner which adds to the 'to do' list.

I also bought some wool on a whim, as I just loved the look of it, so I have a reverse project going on. Bought the wool, hunted for a suitable pattern second. Which is a Skinny Skarf, which is a sort of 'do in front of the tv' craft.

Always on the go I have my hexagon quilt, which I do by hand, so I can do that in the armchair, this is the most basic of quilting I think, and can be stopped & started any time at all, I havn't touched it for some months, but it is right beside me, so I can 'do a few hexagons' when I have a spare five minutes. Now, although it is very simple, you have to get the paper hexs accurate, as they all need to fit together at the end. I enlisted my hubbie to make a template sheet on the pc, use MS Word, which I can photocopy or just print out what I need. I am making the hexs into flower patterns, one fabric in the middle, and petals all the same around the outside. You can do this, or make each one different, which would make a lovely 'scrappy' design. If you want some more accurate instructions, click
